The Miss Universe Fiji licensee has terminated the contract organiser, Grant Dwyer the former manager of Miss Universe Australia Jennifer Hawkins, for the 2024 Fiji Miss Universe event, just held at the Pearl Resort in Fiji, after they failed to follow protocol, and caused unnecessary confusion and controversy on the night by awarding the wrong contestant as the winner.

The MUF licensee is entitled to appoint all judges, but only had one appointed ( the licensee Judge was in attendance to also to verify the process was fair and transparent.) MUF trusted the contract organiser to appoint the other judges fairly, and not with any predetermined bias, and to ensure the voting was done in a fair and transparent manner. However this didn’t occur, as they didn’t count the licensee vote, which made it 4 votes each for the top two contestants, and the organiser rushed to announce their preferred winner they wanted, despite it being a tie,and the licensee to be consulted, and to choose the winner in the event of a tie.

An internal review found the votes, also, were not submitted in private, so other judges could be swayed to support a pre-determined winner in a cunning form of descretion.

In the process of an Internal investigation, It has since found that the organiser wanted a Fijian Indian to be the winner, to maximise his personal potential profits from Global sponsorship and business deals that we’re outside the MUF organisation 2024, were neither discussed or authorized. (See photo evidence below)

Such bias against non Fijian Indian contestants, and an attempt to override a fair and transparent process for personal financial gain is concerning. Legal action is pending against the organiser for bringing the event into disrepute.

MUF sincerely apologise for this occurrence, and especially to the top 2 contestants, for the mental anguish suffered as a result of the organisers who failed to follow protocol and predetermined agenda for their own financial gain.

Note : Photo 1 MUF Organisers WhatsApp message of why they wanted a Fiji Indian winner. (They rushed to make the announcement on the night that she was the winner, despite it being a tie, and the correct winner then to be decided by the Licensee Managing Representative)

Photo 2 (please see below) The licensee Manager clearly stating they chose Nadine Roberts, to be the winner after informed of tie.
The contracted organisers intentionally ignored the vote by the licensee holder ,and ignored that in the event of a tie, it is the licensee who makes the final decision determining the Winner.

These actions were executed in a rush to ensure their preferred Winner, which was to be a Fiji Indian contestant, to maximise their financial interests, (ahead of fairness and transparency)to a larger global Indian population, and overriding the actual winner who wasn’t Fiji Indian.

As the first year of the Miss universe Fiji organisation it is once again our intent to maintain integrity and transparency of the event.
